Renewable Energy
Vitruvian Power
Project details
Purpose of the project: Sharing the Energy in in the future. The Vitruvian Power project addressing two major problems. The first one is usage of energy/electricity consumption in humans' everyday life; accessible electricity for everyday personal usage. By offering the alternative sources of energy such as Vitruvian power system we are targeting the carbon emission reduction issue that the whole world is facing nowadays.
Product Description. Prototype#1: Worn next to the skin, 3D-textured jacket explores the potential of heat exchanges between the body and the atmosphere. Prototype#2: S1 jacket incorporates solar cells and LEDs. The systems and connectors are removable. Prototype#3: Wire Overshirt is an avant-garde garment combining solar production and on-the-go electrical uses. Prototype#4: Flow Tunic explores application of technologies for the capture, storage, usage of energy. Laser-cut photovoltaic panels transform into a subtle, flexible play of graphics that follow body movements.
Technology Description: Four prototypes combine new and already established technologies. Each prototype has the different look and the technologies embedded. Prototype#1: Electricity is created by Seebeck effect. The sleeves are made out of S.Café® fabric. This “street wear” is an initial example of a garment continuously recovering part of the energy produced by the human body. Prototype#2: This jacket currently produces over 4 Watts daily by capturing light. It incorporates solar cells and LEDs. The antibacterial and anti-odour lining is made out of S.Café® fabric. Prototype#3: Wire Overshirt can provide up to 2.5 Watts of energy to extend the battery life of mobile devices. Combining solar production and on-the-go electrical use. Prototype#4: Flow Tunic integrates OLED lighting and solar cells.
